Video Premiere: The Manx, “Plasma Rib Tanks”
Consider the following as you watch the new music video for “Plasma Rib Tanks,” a song off the self-described “surrealist, experimental punk act” The Manx’s 2016 album Voyage in Bad Taste (order here): the band is made up of full-time animators and artists who have worked on shows for Adult Swim, Cartoon Network, Comedy Central and Nickelodeon. In other words, it’s no surprise this video is way fucking out there!
We mean that in the best possible of ways, of course. The video, directed by Mike Manasewitsch, involves an exploding cake, mostly naked men, many combinations of other cakes meeting their fate on these men’s bodies, depictions of gross bodily functions, a giant guitar-playing pickle and a whole lot of bizarre but mesmerizing animation. And rollerblading. Because why wouldn’t there be rollerblading? Check it out below!
The Manx have an upcoming release, Mystery Skum and The Odyssey of Goo, that features previously unreleased tracks, remixes, reinterpretations, guest spots, and noise experiments, created as a companion to Voyage in Bad Taste; pre-order it here.
